I remember when I first heard the word Gumballhead. I was like, “I don’t know what this is but it sounds amazing.” When someone told me about Zombie Dust, I had the same exact reaction. As you can imagine, I was not unimpressed or let down when I first tried these beers by 3 Floyds.
What’s interesting though is that back then, maybe 2012 or 2013 and certainly before, these beers were cult hits in and outside of Indiana. Stepping into Byway, you don’t feel like you’re in a brewery. It has a much more open and airy quality and that adds to the enjoyment. I felt like I was walking into a sporting or similar entertainment venue. I went with a couple of friends and we were able to spread out, play some games, and enjoy ourselves. It is not cramped or quartered and I appreciated that at the end of the long week I had!

I’m making more of an effort lately to try different breweries. Everyone has their go-to’s, and I am no different. It’s easier after work to fall into a routine rather than trying something new. New Oberpfalz might not be on your regular brew lineup-but it should be. Here are some things that I loved when I went there.
